The CDM Foundation is continuing the upgrade of infrastructure
at CDM. This past summer a first phase renovation of the Gymnasium was undertaken. The project included painting, cleaning
and re-hanging CIF banners, new ceiling treatment, improved lighting, new scoreboards, and new multi-media projector
and screens. The Gymnasium was basically in its original condition since construction in 1962, almost fifty years ago,
and the District has no plans and no funds for improvements for this facility at CDM. The Gym space is used on a daily basis
by all CDM students either for phys ed classes, testing, assemblies and rallies, sports team practices and games and after
school hour parent meetings, dances, awards presentations and tournaments. The initial phase of the project was funded
by the generous support of CDM parents to The CDM Foundation annual fundraising effort, the Fund-A-Need Auction at the
April 1, 2012 Neptune’s Ball and some of the sports Booster groups that utilize the gymnasium. The project committee
was led by Joe Stefano and John Curci and included Rob Case, Jerry Schmitt, Ray Kennedy and Hal Pisors.
A second phase could be initiated depending upon 2011-2012 donations. Second Phase
renovations could include expansion of the entry foyer to the gym, redo of the entry doors into the gym, expansion of trophy
case area and renovation of the restrooms. Make your donation today to help fund Corona Del Mar gym renovation phase 2.
